THE LIFE OF
MOTHER JOSEPHINE MORRISON
"For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so
God will bring with Him those who sleep in Jesus "
I Thessalonians 4:14
In the dawning of the day, Sunday, December 30, 1917, little Josephine was born to Edward Dabney and Estella Leavell in Woodland, Tennessee. At the tender age of 11, Josephine confessed her faith in our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and united with Woodlawn Elizabeth Baptist Church.
In the year of 1937, twenty-year old Josephine united in holy matrimony to Hezekiah "Hezie" Morrison. After five years of marriage, the couple made Lansing, Michigan their home in 1942.
Josephine Morrison united with Union Missionary Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. S.J. Johnson. Her tenure at Union was a vibrant one. Mother Morrison was a working servant for the Lord as an usher, Beginner Teacher for Sunday School, President of Young Matrons, Member of the Every Ready Singers, Director of BTU, Vice President of Mothers Board, and other duties where needed. Mother Josephine was a woman of faith, a wonderful servant of the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Hezekiah "Heize" Morrison.
Josephine went to be with the Lord on December 13, 2015. She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Marvin Morrison; grandson, Travis; sister, Ophelia Allen; godson, Larry Fowler; goddaughter, Agatha Cheeks; a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and precious friends including special friends, Loreteen Goff and Carol Stebbins.
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing. II Timothy 4:7-8
Just look for me in Heaven, I'll be there……….
VICTORY IS WITH THE LORD
