Josephine "Josie" Lewis departed this world to Heaven on October 16, 2019 at her residence in Lansing, Michigan.

Josie was born September 19, 1939 in Camden, Alabama to the late Mack and Lola Arnold. After high school in Camden, AL, Josephine married the late Roosevelt Coats. They were married from 1957-1976 and to there union, had five children. When she settled in Lansing, she began her career at General Motors (Oldsmobile) plant. She worked 30 years with the company.

Josephine met and married the late John Lewis in 1983. They were  married for 35 years. She made a blended family seem easy. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, gardening, playing cards with the ladies and cooking big dinners.

Josephine leaves to cherish her memory: her sons, Anthony Coats, Theodore Coats, Charles "Pooh" Coats, Raymond Foster, and Craig McFadden; daughters, Jacqueline Coats McFadden and Delinda Arnold; grandchildren, Marcel Washington, Tracy Coats Withers, Anthony Patterson, Melissa Coats, Kassie Coats, Craig McFadden II, Lamar Coats, Joshua McFadden, Martel Coats, Myles McFadden, and Marcus McFadden; 16 great grand children; 3 great great grand children; her sisters, Marguerite Adams, Jane Mitchell, Rosemary (John) Moton and Linda Arnold; sisters-in-laws, Adele Arnold, Minnie (Sim) Burton, Eula (McKinley) Hester; brother-in-law, Eddie Coats and Thomas Lewis; and a host of other family and friends.

Josie now walks beside her Lord with: her spouse, John Lewis; daughter, Patrica Coats Santia; great grandson, Amir Roosevelt Coats; parents, Mack and Lola Arnold; and her brothers, James Peavy, Mack Arnold Jr.
