Joseph Johnson, 75, of Lansing, Michigan, died peacefully at home with his wife, Versey, and three of his grandsons, Monta, Kimani and Kemar by his side. Thank you to all who helped care for Joseph: his cousins, Art (Victoria); his caregiver, Harold; sister-in-law, Vanessa; his friends from the  Southside Tri-County Senior Center; and many others he met along the way. Joseph appreciated the phone calls and visits from his Trinity AME Church family, as well as his friends and schoolmates from Grand Rapids and Lansing. He received excellent care from McLaren's Hospice staff.

Joseph is also survived by: his children, Cecilee, Tiffanee, Joseph; Versey's children, Monta, Claudia (Anthony) and Deon (Tara); his grandchildren; three great grandchildren; his sister, Barbara; a niece, Regina; his children's mother Gainell; and many friends and relatives. His parents, Ruth and Rev. Willie J. (Enotris) preceded him in death. Joseph is a retiree of the Michigan Department of Corrections.

To mitigate the spread of COVID, Joseph will not have a funeral. He will have two visitations: Riley Funeral Home in Lansing, Michigan on Saturday, October 31 from 1-6 pm; and at Brown Funeral Home in Grand Rapids, Michigan, on Sunday, November 1 from 1-6 pm. Words of comfort and prayer will be offered at both visitations. Please wear a mask, both visitations will practice social distancing. Joseph's wife, Rev. Dr. Versey Williams, Pastor of Mt. Calvary AME Church will officiate.
