Mr. John Withers was born December 22, 1933 to William Henderson Withers and Martha Poe Withers in Woodson, Arkansas. John attended Central High School in Little Rock, Arkansas.

Mr. Withers was the owner of Westside Pool Hall, Westside Deli and many other businesses. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing pool and watching western movies.

Mr. Withers was preceded in death by: his parents; daughter, Linda Carol Withers; wives, Dorothy Withers Clements and Peggy Withers; brothers, William, Theodore and Jewel Withers; sisters, Novella Clark, Hildry Williams and Rosie Mae Warren.

Our beloved father went home to be with the Lord on October 23, 2016. He leaves a legacy of love and cherished memories to: children, John, Dorothy, Michael, Brenda and Pamela Withers and Monica Hinton, all of Lansing; stepdaughter, Tiffany Merchant; sisters, Mercie Mae Pennington of Woodson, Arkansas and Dorcas Pugh of Lansing; sister-in-law, Shirley Withers of Little Rock, Arkansas; friends, Maurice Rhodes, Will Glass and Wallace Bush; and a host of grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

We thank him for all of his knowledge and wisdom he imparted on all of us.

Mr. John Withers will lie in repose Friday, October 28, 2016 from 3-7pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 West Saint Joseph Street, Lansing, Michigan.  Funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 1pm at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 South Martin Luther King Jr., Blvd, Lansing, Michigan.  Family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the funeral.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.rileyfuneralhome.com .
