John "Johnny" Otis Horton was born November 20, 1951, in Rockford, Illinois.  He was the son of Van Horton and Velma White.

In 1969, he married his childhood sweetheart, Patricia Ann Watts in Lansing, Michigan.  During this union they had three daughters.  John loved classic cars, fishing, jazz and going to Las Vegas with his wife, Patricia.

John was a great husband, father, son, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, son-in-law, brother-in-law, brother, father-in-law and friend.  John loved everyone and would give the shirt off his back.  John believed in helping those that needed him.  John's motto was "if you can help someone, God will give it back in full force."

John was preceded in death by: his wonderful mother, Velma Johnson; father, Van Horton; step-father, Harold Johnson; brother, Ivan Horton; sister-in-law, .

Our beloved Johnny departed this life on Sunday, April 3, 2016.  Surviving to cherish his memory: wife, Patricia A. Horton; daughters, Anjenett Horton, Mattie Horton, LaToyia (Curtis) Burgos, all of Lansing, Michigan; ten grandchildren, Mark Williams, Jr., Peyanka Horton, Darius Williams, John Horton-Hilliard, Tori Davis, Jr., Mariah Horton-Reed, Asia Horton, Paige Reed-Glass, Dominique Davis, and Amani Culpepper;  five great-grandchildren, Javeaha Mays, Jayda Mays, Jayla Mays, Fitzgerald Williams, and Dominic Davis; one son-in-law, Curtis Burgos; three sisters, Essie Horton, Maxine Toms, and Michelle Beard; mother-in-law, Mattie Parker; brothers-in-law, Clarence Watts, Karl Parker, and Henry (Boka)Parker III; sisters-in-law, Sheila Jenkins, Nancy Nelson and Kisha Parker; special cousin, Jackie Poole; close friends, Bakari (Muss)Eric Brown, and Mike (Mike Busted Knuckles) May; and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.

Mr. John Otis Horton will lie in repose Friday, April 8th, 2-6 pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph Street, Lansing, Michigan.  Funeral service will be held Saturday, April 9th, 11am at Reachout Christian Church , 5628 Wise Road, Lansing, MI .  Family will receive friends one hour prior to the funeral.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.rileyfuneralhome.com .
