John
Bolan
July 3, 1975 – February 3, 2019
"I am because we are. We all bleed the same color. We all want to love and be loved." --Madonna--
John "Johnny" Michael-Fredrick Bolan, born July 3, 1975 in Lansing, Michigan at Sparrow Hospital, was the fourth child of Anna May Parker. Johnny spent his earliest years in Holt and later moved to Lansing. The east side neighborhood in Lansing was his home. He graduated from Everett High School and Spring Arbor University.
Johnny was committed to living his life in service and gave himself completely to all of his endeavors. He was an accomplished dancer and poet. He taught yoga at the local studio, Just B, for many years. He was involved with AmeriCorps as well as Allen Street Market and other local community gardens.
Johnny was most at home in a garden. He found his peace with his hands in the dirt, giving to the cycle of life.
He will be remembered for his command of a room. His wit and wisdom ranged from profound to vulgar. He was bright, bold, and brilliant. He was the spark and sparkle of the family. He was light and love.
He is preceded in death by: his beloved mother, Anna May; his brother, Jimmy; nephew, Joshua; grandparents; and uncle, Bill.
He is survived by: his two sisters, Katherine (Victor Ruiz) Bolan, Caroline (Rich) Taggart; his brother, Patrick (Shawna Allen) Bolan; nieces, Brittney, Chelsea, Esperanza, and Mayana; nephews, Zachariah, Richard, and Jacob; aunt, Debbie Parker; cousins, Kim and Shawn; and countless friends.
