Jo Frances Gaines, 93, formerly of Ecorse Michigan died quietly in her sleep Thursday, June 18, 2020 in Lansing, Michigan. She was born September 19, 1926, in River Rouge, Michigan, the daughter of Everette and Maggie Boone.

Until moving to Lansing in 2005, she was a faithful member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Ecorse under Rev. Joseph P. Barlow. Before her retirement she served as a supervisor in the Ecorse office of Communities United for Action (CUFA), a late 1970's multi-county community organization designed to assist economically disadvantaged residents and families in Down River Detroit communities.

In 1964 she married Ilos Gaines. The two enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking as well as dancing to all types of music.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Ilos Gaines; infant son, Elliout Gaines; parents, Everett and Maggie Boone. She also leaves to cherish her memory her children: Ernie Boone of Lansing, and Shari Burgess of Detroit; grandchildren: Ernie (Brandi) Boone, II, Omari (Stephanie) Boone, Chad (Nikki) Boone, Adia Boone and Courtney Burgess.

There will be no services for Mrs. Gaines.
