Obituary

Jesse Earl Tyes, affectionately known to us as "Earl" and "Big Eye." Earl was born May 17, 1964 to Frank Tyes and Theodoria Sturghill in Blytheville, Arkansas. Earl was the baby of fourteen children.

Earl was proceeded in death by: his parents, Frank Tyes and Theodoria Wilkerson; grandparents, Essie Mae Howard, Ben Sturghill and Major Howard, Sr.; siblings, Denise Toni, Gertrude Smith, Henry Wilkerson, Jr., Leroy Donnell Sturghill, Ethel Lee Norris; godmother, Mrs. Alberta Tate; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Earl departed this earthly life and entered the presence of the Lord, at the age of 58, on Sunday, July 3, 2022 at Sparrow Hospital surrounded by family. Earl was a beloved father, brother, uncle, nephew, and cousin. He was loved by everyone.

Earl attended and graduated from Blytheville High School in 1982. Shortly after graduation, Earl relocated to Lansing, MI to be with his older siblings.

Earl was employed with Peckham, Inc. for over 20 years. However, Earl had many other skills; first and foremost he was the families official "Happy Birthday" singer. If it was your birthday and he knew it you were guaranteed to get a song right on the spot! No matter what key he sang it in he made the birthday song his own. Earl was also a great painter and lawn care guy. His all-time favorite was to go fishing and cooking on the barbecue grill. He even loved to dress; he might be wearing plaids and stripes – but he was always clean.

Earl leaves to cherish his memories: daughters, Di'Yanna and De'Zanae; son, Da'Quaviz all of Lansing, MI; siblings, Clarence Frazier of Chicago, IL, Anarion Frazier of Lansing, MI, Bertha Curtis of Benton Harbor, MI, Essie (Charles) James of Lansing, MI, Willie Dawson of Lansing, MI, Mary-Lois (Simon) Donald of Lansing, MI, Johnny Wilkerson of Blytheville, AR, James (Debra) Wilkerson of Malden, MO; aunts, Willie Mae Echols of Blytheville, AR, Annie Ruth George of Galveston, TX; uncle, Major (Nona) Howard, Jr. of Broadview, IL; god-sisters and god-brothers, the Tate family; as well as a host of favorite nieces, nephews and cousins too numerous to mention.
