Jesse
Romero
May 8, 1964 – December 16, 2021
Jesse Romero was born on May 8, 1964, and passed away on Thursday, December 16, 2021. He was 57.
Jesse was born in Mathis, TX and came to Lansing when he was two years old. He became a lifelong resident of Lansing, a city he loved and never left. Jesse was the proud business owner of Romero Painting, and his lifelong enjoyment for playing softball extended over three decades.
Everyone who knew Jesse loved how he made them feel. If he saw you were down, he made it his priority to cheer you up and make you laugh. He was quick with jokes that only Jesse could possibly tell.
Jesse was a natural at everything he set his mind to. He picked up a trumpet at a young age and was amazing at it. He walked onto the track in high school and broke records, and was featured on the front page of the Lansing State Journal. He was an avid ball player; softball was in his blood. He won championship after championship. He had such a love for the game he became a mentor and coach for many others. He not only had talent, he had a big heart to match.
He was the best 3rd basemen and one day they asked him, "Can you pitch?" He said, "I sure can!" To their amazement he replaced their current pitcher and became the new pitcher! Just like that! He worked hard and played harder. He loved deeply and loved what he did. Truly he will be missed by many but most of all he will be missed by his loved ones, we are all grateful for the time we had with you Jesse. An original from the beginning to the end. Never to be replaced, never to be forgotten! Rest in heaven Romero!
He was loved by his friends and family dearly. He is predeceased by: his father, Albino Garza. He is survived by: his mother, Emma Garza; his children, Nikki Romero, Jessica (Eddie) Romero Bracamontes and Devin Tyler; sisters, Rosalinda (Richard) Romero Hernandez, Julia (Alfonso) Garza Reyna, Maryann (Joseph) Garza Kilgallon, Elisa (Danny) Garza Briones; and two precious grandsons, Bradley and Luke.
