Jeffery Lincoln Nixon was born on September 26, 1969 in Lansing, Michigan to Lincoln and Carol Nixon.

Jeff, as he was fondly called, attended Lansing Public Schools, graduating from J.W. Sexton High School in 1987, where he played football for four years. He continued his education at Lansing Community College for two years. Jeff loved to travel and loved watching sports, He especially loved Michigan State University and was an avid Spartan fan. His favorite NFL team was the Dallas Cowboys. Growing up, Jeff also loved playing football on Willow School playground with his cousins and childhood friends from the neighborhood.

Jeff's first job was working as a cook at Don's Windmill Truck Stop. In 1995, he began working for the State Department of Mental Health as a Forensic Security Aide until his death.

Jeffery grew up attending Sunday School and church at St. Paul Church of God in Christ, later renamed Robinson Memorial Church of God in Christ after its founder and Jeff's great-grandfather, the late Superintendent Elder Perry Robinson.

He leaves to cherish his memory: mother, Carol; sister, Jovonne (Eric) Hudson; brothers, Lincoln, James (Sharonda) Nixon, and Chad Morse; nephews, Tyreece (Danielle), Davonne, and Chad; niece, Alexis; great-nephews, Darius and Alrseus; great-niece, Mariah; god-daughter, Gabrielle Gray; aunts, Hazel Nickles, Lois Sprague, and Lora Jones; uncles, Michael (Elnora), Dennis (Beverly), Darryl (Valorie), Terence (Patricia) Scott; three great-aunts; special cousins, Antony and Christopher Carnegie; and a host of cousins and friends.
