Jean Ellen Macklin the youngest daughter of Coy and Melvalee Strickland was born on February 27th 1948. She passed on to the next life very unexpectedly at home on Jan 21st 2013. A lifelong resident of Lansing and graduate from Sexton High School, Jean retired from the State of Michigan after 40 years of service. She was always willing to donate her time and resources to various homeless shelters and community organizations"whenever she saw the need she filled it. Jean served faithfully for a number of years at the Word Church and later transferred her membership to Mt. Hope Church. Her infectious laugh and dedication to family and friends will be greatly missed. Jean was preceded in death by: her father, Coy. She leaves to cherish her memory: mother, Melvalee Strickland; two sons, James (Aimee) Macklin and Jamon Macklin; sisters, Judith Loveless and Hazel Gray; brother, Carl (Dorothy) Strickland; step-sister, Delores Mitchell; aunt, Ruth Woodard and eight grandchildren. Friends may visit Mrs. Macklin Sunday, January 27, 2013, 1- 4 pm at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Monday, January 28, 2013 at 12:00 noon at Mount Hope Church, 202 S. Creyts Road, Lansing, Michigan. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the funeral with Reverend Ross McElroy officiating. Interment at Evergreen Cemetery.
