James J. Johnson, Jr. was born in West Memphis, Arkansas on May 6, 1953. He graduated from Three Rivers High School. James also was a Navy man serving our country in the Vietnam era stationed out of San Diego, California. On August 4, 1973, he married the love of his life and best friend, Alice Johnson. They were married for 40 years. Shortly after the death of Alice, James later married Gloria, which was a very short union. James was a hard and dedicated worker. He would often arrive two hours before his shift was to start. James could be found in the break room drinking coffee and reading the newspaper. This was his routine for 30 years at General Motors. Affectionately known as "Dad, Grandpa, Jaybird, Bird", James simply loved living life. When James was not working, he could be found working on one of his cars or motorcycles. His passion was recording DVD movies and his love of old cars especially the "Ford Gran Torino". James liked to fish and liked his Sunday sports whether it was a NBA or NFL game. He loved professional sport games. James just likes to have a good time (shooting the breeze). James was preceded in death by: his wife and best friend, Alice Johnson; parents, James "Daddy James" Johnson, Sr.; mother, Carrie Lee Johnson; sister, Beatrice Thurmond; sister-in-law, Linda Johnson; and brother-in-law, Sidney Thurmond.
