James R. Gardner was born June 27, 1952 in Kalamazoo, Michigan.

James was a loving (and grumpy) husband, step-father, brother-in-law, father-in-law, grandpa, great-grandpa, uncle, and friend.

James was raised on a dairy farm and enjoyed the outdoors. He was a hard-working man who enjoyed watching sports; was an avid MSU Spartan fan; and was a lifelong, die-hard Detroit Lions fan. His passions were gardening, lawncare, and groundhog fighting.

James was preceded in death by: his step-son, Jordan D. Rogers; and his good friend, Fred Thomas.

James is survived by: his wife, Phyllis Ann Gardner (Woman); one step-son and three step-daughters; along with a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
