Obituary

Howard Triplett Sr was born January 13, 1949 in Sunflower, Mississippi. He was raised by Samuel Triplett, Irene Triplett, and Emma Casey in the city of Chicago, IL during his younger years and in Lansing, MI during his teenage years. He was the oldest of his loving siblings Janice, Cynthia, Freddie, Kenny, along with Suddie, Emma, and Michael.

Once Howard graduated from J.W. Sexton High School, he enlisted into the United States Marines Corps on April 23, 1966. His accomplishments in the service led him to be a decorated Vietnam War Veteran. During his time stationed at the marine barracks in Bermuda, at the age of 22, Howard met and married the love of his life Dianne.

While married they were stationed in Quantico, VA and Oceanside, CA where together they raised 2 sons, Howard Jr [Kayana] and Antoine [Tamara] and helped to raise the eldest son Weylin [Terry] after returning to Lansing, MI after an honorary discharge from the United States Marine Corps in 1983.

While in Lansing, Howard worked in purchasing at Burcham Hills Retirement Center and Community Mental Health, as a teachers aid at Mid-Michigan Academy, and as a Deputy Ombudsman for the City of Flint, MI.

Howard also helped in raising his beloved grandchildren Keyante, Taylor, Brianna, Anthony, Marki, Terry, Raven, Carrington, Nekayba, Kayla, Jayla, Amiah, Joshua, and Isaiah. Lastly, his god children Shani, Carl, and Laneya. Howard was a family man and affectionately called "Papa".

Papa was a loving husband, father and grandfather.  He never met a stranger and his sense of humor, wisdom and generous heart reached all who met him.

Howard loved horseback riding, gatherings with family which included eating, dominos, spades, Bid whist and sports. He loved to watch football and root for his favorite teams the Washington Red Skins and the Detroit Lions.

Howard loved to hear teachings and readings from the Bible and enjoyed being on the prayer line with the prayer warriors from Trinity Church.

His heart for servanthood shined as a Deacon at Mount Olive Baptist Church and he brought smiles to everyone around him through his charismatic storytelling and conversation.

Howards love and laughter will be lived through his brothers and sisters, 3 sons, 3 daughters, 14 grandchildren, 3 god children and all of his nieces and nephews.
