Obituary

Horace was born in Greensville, Georgia and moved to Muskegon, MI in his early life, he then moved to Hesperia, MI. Horace attended grade school in Muskegon Heights, MI, high school in Hesperia, MI, and returned to Muskegon before making his home in Lansing, Michigan.

Horace was the first born of Mary Walton and Stenson Dixon who preceded him in death; he was the beloved husband of Francie (Frances Barnett) Walton for 55 years and 11 months. He was also preceded in death by his brother, Tommie Joe Walton of Muskegon, Michigan.

Horace will always and forever be remembered by his living family: son, Harold D. Walton, Lansing, MI; daughters, Carol L. Walton, Lansing MI, Chaudra L. (Walton) Pratt (Michael), Phoenix, AZ, Sabrina M. Walton, Laraine D. Walton, Tshonda S. (Walton) Harden (Dane), all of Lansing, MI, and Khlorese R. Walton, of Holt, MI; 18 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy (Walton) Suhuba-Baruti (Antonio), DeSota, TX, Joann (Reed) (Joe), SouthBend, IN; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other extended children who called him dad/grandpa and friend.

Horace served 52 faithful years in Pathology at Sparrow Hospital before retiring and spending much loved time with his family. Horace was baptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost with the evidence of speaking in unknown tongues as the spirit of God gave utterance in Christ Temple Church Muskegon Heights, MI. He was a faithful member of Christ Temple Church, Lansing, MI for 59 years. In his early life he served faithfully with the youth department, he was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. He served in the Brotherhood, and was always eager to lend a helping hand to anyone in need. In his last years, he served as Deacon on the Deacon Board. He was very caring and always willing to share.

Horace was a quiet/humorous person, but he loved being with his family at home and at church. He loved studying and talking about the word of God, going to church, listening to the news, sports, wrestling, boxing, and western movies - although most of the time the tv was "watching him" as he slept. He also loved playing his guitar, traveling, and he looked forward to talking with brother Ed on Sundays.

Horace was funny and he liked humor, he touched the lives of many people with his humor and generous heart, opening the doors of his home and heart to many. He fought a good and faithful fight and finished his course.

Horace will certainly be missed.
