Herbert Lee Washington was born February 11, 1948 in Baton Rouge Louisiana to Ellis and Catherine Washington. Herbert enter into the United States Marine Corps October 1, 1967. He attained the rank of Corporal and was honorably discharged after 2 years of service. Herbert was employed by General Motors and retired after 37 years of service. Herbert enjoyed sports, bowling, pool, karate. He obtained a black belt in karate. He also loved spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by: his grandchildren, Corey and Tyreek; father, Ellis Washington; brother, Claude Washington; father-in-law, George Ramsey; and mother-in-law; Helen Ramsey. Herbert left this life to enter his eternal walk with Jesus on January 1, 2013. He leaves to forever cherish his memory: his wife, Emily Washington; five sons, Rodrick, Herbert Terrill (Melanie), Christopher, and Anthony Washington, and Cecil Bowman, all of Lansing; daughter, Ashley Ramsey; grandchildren, Brandon, Talisha, DeMarco, Taiwon, Monea, Alexis, Trisha, Domonic, Arianna, Rodrick II, Denail, Jeremiah, Lorenzo, Ashley, J.D. and Jada; eight great- grandchildren, three sisters, Deloris Floyd, Lonell and Joyce Washington; brothers, Ellis Jr. (Dorothy), Herman (Pat), George (Yvette), and Carl Washington; his loving mother, Catherine Washington of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; first wife, Barbara Jean Turnley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; eight brother-in-laws, three sister in-laws; and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
