Obituary

Mr. Harold Clifton Harris (Wallace) was born January 19, 1934, the eldest son of the late Wallace Williams and the late Edna Harris in Holmesville, MS.

Harold grew up in Holmesville, MS with his beloved grandmother, Lovey Harris, mother, Edna Harris and siblings. He attended Martin High School in Macomb, MS until ninth grade due to no school bus transportation for children of color. He left school to help his mother and grandmother support his younger siblings so they could finish their education. He later moved to New Orleans, LA where he found work doing various jobs: diver for a tugboat company, Falstaff Brewing Company, and an auto mechanic for a service station prior to moving to Detroit, MI where he continued to work as an auto mechanic. He was hired into Ford Motor Company as an assembly line worker in November 1967. After promotions over the years, Harold worked as an auto technician until his retirement in January 1997.

Harold loved to travel, especially travelling in his RV across the country, enjoying the outdoors.  He enjoyed camping and fishing with family and friends.

Harold was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for over 30 years. He served on the usher board and also helped with the maintenance and up-keep of the church until his health could no longer allow him to. He was a faithful member up to his passing on November 1, 2025.

Harold leaves to cherish his memory: wife, Mrs. Bonnie Fleming Harris, who he met in July of 1989. They sealed their relationship in marriage on August 23, 1994. There were no children born into this marriage. His children: Wayne Harris (Renee) of Dallas TX, Michael Harris (Philisa) of Westland, MI, Lynnea Harris (Rob) of Belleville, MI; stepchildren (gained from Bonnie), Tammy White of Houston TX, Kim White (Carlos) of Lansing, MI, Juan White of Lansing, MI; stepchildren with first wife, Lillian Harris (mother of Michael Harris)and  Andrea Livingston of Ann Arbor, MI; 14 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces and nephews; sister, Cornelia Harris Woodward (Romelle) of Detroit, MI; mother to Lynnea, Lawanda Cooper. Special acknowledgements: nieces, Paulette Robinson (Pelvia) of Bolton, MS, Martha Moss (Bobby) of Utica, MS, Pranessa White (Felix) of Houston, TX.

He was preceded in death by: parents, Wallace Williams and Edna Harris; son, Anthony "Hank" Harris; daughter, Patricia Griffin; stepsons, Kenneth Livingston, and Harold Livingston; brothers, J.W. Williams, Cna Williams, Willie James Williams, Marvin Williams, and Curtis Williams; sisters, Etta Lee Peters, Willa Mae Body-Brown, and Ella Louise Harris.
