Obituary

Born to Mauro and Grace Carmen (Alavarez) on November 28, 1942 at St. Mary's Hospital in Saginaw, Michigan and passed away on February 12, 2021 at St. Lawrence Hospice in Lansing, Michigan.

Lupe proudly served his country in the United States Air Force and enjoyed Veterans' Day lunches with his brothers, David and Ron, and nephew, Tony, and on occasion his daughter, Sabrina, who all also served.

Dad was an incredibly hard worker and had a tremendous work ethic - only ending his years' long zero absences record to play with the kids in the snow during the 1978 blizzard.

Dad loved riding his Harley, taking long road trips and giving the neighborhood kids a spin to the corner and back.

He was a tough guy of few words, but family was very important to him. He had great memories of and lots of love for his aunts, uncles and especially his cousins. Summers picking cherries was a favorite.

Dad is survived by: his wife, Sue; children, Patrice, Sabrina, Steve (his only son and was born on his birthday), and Deanna; grandchildren, Niki, Meche, Kristi, and Emily; great grandchildren, Aliana, Cameron, Cora, and Ezekiel, all of whom he loved greatly.

Also surviving are Dad's siblings; David, Ron, Juanita, Delores, Christina, and Peggy and their families.

Riding with him in Heaven are his friends, Chuck and Fred.

We would like to thank Amanda Goodblood from the VA for all of her help; and our sisters and niece Patrice, Deanna, and Emily who took care of Dad, keeping him home as long as they possibly could.

In honor of Lupe, please consider donations to the Lewy Body Dementia Society or a Veterans organization. Dad always had his pistol on him and proudly flew his NRA flag, so he would appreciate any contribution to them.

There will be no services for Mr. Costello at this time.
