Grant Oneil Jackson
was born August 13, 1941 in Camden, Alabama to Reverend Jessie and Rosa Jackson.
He was the sixth of eight children. In 1951 the family moved to Lansing, Michigan, where he attended Lansing Public Schools and graduated from J.W. Sexton High School, Class of 1961. Grant joined Union Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Joel L. King, and accepted Jesus Christ at a young age. As a young man
he was actively involved with the church. He was also an active member of the Laymen Choir. Grant was employed with the State of Michigan Department of Corrections and later retired after many years of service. He was also employed with the Lansing School District for several years. In his spare time, he enjoyed playing baseball, fishing, hunting, gardening, and tinkering with automobiles.
Grant passed from this earthly life to be present with his Lord and Savior on March 13, 2016. He was preceded in his homegoing by his parents and brother, Cleveland Jackson.
Grant leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Jeffery Iseler; grandson, Zachary of Tampa, FL; siblings, Josephine White of Philadelphia, PA; Sarah (Ben) Travis, Marguerite (Deacon Bobby) Bruner, Lucille Jackson, and Errol Jesse Jackson, all of Lansing, MI, Evelyn Jackson of Grand Rapids, MI; sister-in-law, Mary Jackson of Atlanta, GA; dear cousin, Virginia Wiggins of Lansing, MI; along with many other relatives and friends.
Mr. Grant Oneil Jackson will lie in repose Friday, March 25th, 3-6pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St., Lansing, MI. Funeral service will be held Saturday, March 26th, 11am at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S. Martin Luther King Jr, Blvd, Lansing, MI.
