Georgialee Lucille Powell, was born in 1948, the 2nd daughter of six children. Blessed with a good outlook and disposition, Georgia had a fun childhood with her five siblings - Linda, Ralph, Marty, Becky and Lori. Camping was a big deal with the Powell family, and Georgia's mom and dad took everyone camping in the summers. Georgia continued the camping tradition with her own children, Cindy and Joe. When her kids were young, they camped every summer with the extended Powell family. Georgia's siblings have a bunch of kids of their own, so the family camping trips were always full of people. Georgia also enjoyed reading and crocheting, both hobbies that are good for camping and for at home. Georgia worked for the State of Michigan in the licensing division. She retired in 2002 after working in public service for 30 years. In her retirement, she spent a lot of her time visiting with family and friends. Before Georgia left us, she was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Violet, her brother Ralph, and sisters Linda and Becky. Georgialee Lucille Powell, age 67, of Ionia was called home to be with the Lord on June 25 after a short battle with cancer. Her remaining family - children Joe and Cindy and siblings Marty and Lori and their families, grandsons Aaron and Warren, her three great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews - all mourn her passing. Memorial services for Mrs. Powell will be held Saturday, July 11, 11am at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 West St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933.
