Obituary

Georgia Mae Hector Johnson was born on April 24, 1935 in Athens, Georgia to the late George and Rosa Hector. She relocated to Lansing, Michigan in 1966 and departed this life to be with the Lord on April 1, 2021, after a brief battle with cancer.

Missionary Johnson was a faithful servant of the Lord and served at the Ellis Tabernacle Original Church of God as president of the Easeline Ellis Missionary Society, church mother, assistant Sunday school superintendent, adult Sunday school teacher, usher and kitchen committee member. She was an excellent cook and took great pleasure in preparing meals for family and friends. She was a cook at the University of Georgia and the Olds Plaza Hotel. She lovingly cared for two foster children and was a child care provider for several families. Missionary Johnson was a kind, loving person with a radiant smile. She loved the Lord and her family with all of her heart. Attending Original Church of God Convocations and visiting her out-of-town relatives brought her great joy.

She is survived by: her step-sons, Fred (Joyce) Johnson, Atlanta, GA and William Johnson, Jr., Oklahoma; brother, William (Jean) Hector, Las Vegas, NV; sisters, Lillian Foster, Bishop, GA, Cordelia Laster, Daytona Beach, FL, Josie Williams, Julia Handy, Bessie (Clif) Freeman, Athens, GA and Pastor Sarah Johnson, Lansing, MI; aunt, Clara Hector, Athens, GA; a host of loving step-grandchildren, nieces, nephews; special nephew, Jordan George Johnson; cousins, friends; long-time friend, Sister Bennie Lee Black; and many other dear friends too numerous to list as well as the amazing Ellis Tabernacle family. She is also survived by her late husband's step-children who lovingly referred to her as "Momma Georgia."

She was preceded in death by: her parents, George and Rosa Hector; husband, William Johnson, Sr.; brothers, James Stewart, John Hector, George Hector; sister, Rosa Johnson; step-daughter, Bertha Menzie; step-sons, Jack Johnson and Jim Johnson.
