Mr. George Markham was born in New Orleans, Louisiana on December 6, 1925 to Olian and Georgia Markham. George spent most of his adulthood in Lansing, Michigan. As a young man in his early 20's, George enlisted and served in the United States Navy. While enlisted he earned a Bachelor and Master degree in communication arts at Alcorn A & M College in Alcorn, Mississippi. Shortly after being honorably discharged in 1951, Mr. Markham was employed by General Motors Corporation. He retired in 1983 after 30 years of service. He then lived a quiet, comfortable, and pleasant life. George became a member of Shiloah Baptist Church where he was baptized. He enjoyed spending time with his daughter and her family, where he eventually resided. George was preceded in death by: his parents, Olian and George Markham. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 4, 2013 surrounded by his love ones. He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Cynthia (David) Jones; sons, Melvin and Calvin Markham; special granddaughter, Liesa Morrison; grandchildren, Dalton Morrison, Dennis Morrison, Melissa Carr, Lamonica Townsend, Steven Keyton, Hannah Markham, Matthew Markham, Nathan Markham; a host of great grandchildren; and special friend, Louise Phillips all of Lansing, and Tia (Miguel) Pope of Atlanta, Georgia; and a special cousin, Frank Middletown of Madison, Wisconsin.
