Gayle Dorella Custard (Branson) was born at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan on January 17, 1943 and she lived her entire life in Lansing. She went to be with the Lord on the 11th day of February 2022 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. She was 79 years old.

She was proud 1961 graduate of Sexton H.S. and life time member of Trinity AME Church. She married Lewis Custard on March 13, 1976 and he lovingly devoted himself to her care in their home. Gayle also loved to root for her Spartans, GO GREEN! Gayle had fond memories of her early work as a dispatcher for the Michigan State Police and she loved spending time with her family.

She is survived by: her loving husband, Lewis Custard; daughter, Elizabeth (Joel) Deyarmond; grandchildren, Silvia and Aubrin Deyarmond; brothers, Douglas and Kirk Branson; sister, Phyllis Palmer; as well as many cousins, nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Hugh and Xerda Branson; brother, Xavier Branson; and sister, Sheryl Branson.

Public visitation will take place on Friday, February 18 from 3-6 pm at Riley Funeral Home. The Funeral will take place at Trinity African Methodist Episcopal Church on Saturday, February 19 at 10:30 am, with family hour at 10 am.
