Gary Tompkins, a United States Postal Service retiree and long-time resident of Lansing, MI passed away in his home on February 5, 2024 at the age of 80. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.

Gary was preceded in death by: his parents, Lucille and Leroy Tompkins of Allegan, MI.

He is survived by: children, Tammy Rogers of Lansing, MI and Gary L. Johnson (Tina) of Atlanta, Georgia; former son-in-law, Anthony Rogers (Delores) of Lansing, MI; grandchildren, Anthony Rogers Jr. (Aliana) of Phoenix, Arizona, Taryn Rogers of Phoenix Arizona, Toi Rogers (Justin) of Lansing, MI, and Gary R. Johnson of Atlanta, Georgia; and great-grandchildren, Anthony Rogers III of Phoenix, Arizona and Justin Oade Jr. of Lansing, MI.

A memorial service will be held to honor Gary's memory on Friday, February 16, 2024 at Riley Funeral Home at 426 W. St. Joseph St, Lansing, MI 48933. Family hour will begin at noon, and services will commence from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. We strongly encourage everyone to wear Michigan State or green and white attire to celebrate his love for the Spartans.
