Frederick Darnell "Peter" "Pete" Woods was born in Lansing, Michigan to Willard and Willie Woods on March 24, 1951. He attended Lansing Schools and graduated from Everett High School in 1969. He was baptized at an early age at Friendship Baptist Church.

He was blessed with two daughters. For over 30 years, Peter was self-employed at "Pete D Pete's Painters". He was also employed by DTN Management Company for many years in the maintenance department.

He enjoyed all types of art, especially music. He loved to express himself through song by composing and playing various instruments. Peter also loved gardening and fishing.

His tasteful sense of style, classy demeanor and funny sense of humor attracted everyone around him. His quiet strength and helping spirit will always be remembered.

Peter showed his love for his family by spending time with them and his friends.

Peter was preceded in death by: his loving parents, Willard and Willie Woods; and beloved sister, Gere Copper.

Peter departed this life on Monday, November 14, 2016. He leaves to cherish his memory: daughters, Patricia "Rennie" Owens and Shatyia (Henry) Wells; grandsons, Phillip Owens, Henry, Kyvon, Hudson and Hayden Wells; granddaughter, Tahzia Cooper; sisters, Elaine Benson, Saundra (Alfred) Rogers and Kimberly McLeod; brothers, Edward (Colette) Woods and Terrance Woods; and brother-in-law, Clark Cooper. He also leaves to cherish his memory his former wife, Lina Woods, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Woods will lie in repose Friday, November 25, 2016 from 3-7pm with special remarks from 5-7pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 West Saint Joseph Street, Lansing, Michigan.   Funeral service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 11:00am at Lansing Church of God in Christ, 5304 Wise Road, Lansing, Michigan.
