Evelyn Elizabeth Williamson was born on June 18, 1935 in Pineland, South Carolina to Katie and Thomas Williamson, Sr. Later the family relocated to Jamaica, New York where she attended New York Public Schools. Evelyn confessed Christ at an early age.

Evelyn moved to Lansing in 1976 where she pursued a career with the State of Michigan. After several years of working for the State of Michigan, she was able to retire to fulfill her dream of volunteering for the Lansing Food Bank, gardening, fishing, watching baseball, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with her favorite and only granddaughter Ziquariah (a.k.a. Pooh). Evelyn also enjoyed knitting and spending time with her close friends. She loved teaching the children at vacation bible school. Over the years, Evelyn served God and the church in a number of capacities, such as being a member of the choir and teaching Sunday School classes just to name a few.

Evelyn was very proud of the sons God gave her and it was very important to her to take them to church. She believed that God was her source and would provide for her family. Evelyn also believed in the importance of disciplining her sons to make sure they knew who was in charge.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, Katie and Thomas Williamson, Sr.; sister, Patricia Thompson; brother, Reverend Grant Williamson; and niece Leah Williamson.

Evelyn made her transition on March 21, 2017 at Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, Michigan. She leaves to cherish her memory: two sons, John Williamson of Rome, Georgia and Marc (Qunita) Williamson of Lansing; one granddaughter, Ziquariah Williamson of Lansing; brother, Thomas Williamson of Kitty Hawk, North Carolina; sister-in-law, Viola Williamson of Lansing; aunt, Celia Eady of Robertville, South Carolina; special nephews, Craig (Nickie) Williamson and Brent (Jackie) Williamson of Lansing; niece, Kari Williamson of Nags Head, North Carolina; cousin, James Williamson Sr. of Pineland, South Carolina; special cousin, Mable Barnes of Suitland, Maryland; special friends, Beverly Howell, Mary Frances, Christine Holman, Carmie Savage, Liz McMurry, and Kay Leek all of Lansing; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mrs. Evelyn Williamson will lie in repose Monday, March 27, 2017 from 1-6pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 West Saint Joseph Street, Lansing, Michigan.

Funeral service will be held Tuesday, March 28, 2017, 11:00 A.M. at Paradise Missionary Baptist Church, 3403 Franette Road, Lansing, Michigan. Family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the funeral.
