Evangeline Ruth Childs Anderson of Lansing, MI passed away on October 12, 2022. She was born September 2, 1923, the youngest of four children to Norman J and Evangeline Childs. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Allegra C. Thompson and Chrystal Howard, brother Norman B. Childs, husband Calvin C. Anderson and daughter Judith B. Rush.

She married Calvin C. Anderson on April 7 th , 1950. Their union of 58 years was blessed with two children: Debra Brown and Judith Rush.

Evangeline worked in nursing, including 25 years at the Michigan School for the Blind.  In retirement, she volunteered at St. Paul's Episcopal Church and the American Red Cross. She enjoyed going to the movies, playing bridge, bowling and traveling with her husband. She maintained long and deep friendships, particularly as a founding member of Les Amies , a sisterhood that endured for more than four decades.

She leaves to mourn her passing, her loving daughter Debra Brown of Lansing, grandchildren Naketah Brown, Traci (Jay) Grant, Anthony Brown, Jamar (Alysia) Rush, Rachele (Tony) Dorsey and Yvonne (Kino) Smith, 11 great-grandchildren, nieces Deanna Morgan and Sheryl Robinson, son-in-law Jerome Rush and a host of friends.

In lieu of flowers, it was Evangeline's wish for donations to be made in her name to the United Negro College Fund, St. Paul's Episcopal Church, American Red Cross, or American Cancer Society.
