Ethel Lee Swans was born March 8, 1960 to the late Martin Jones Sr., and Vernel Jones in Berrien Springs, Michigan. Moving from Benton Harbor, Michigan, Ethel attended Bloomingdale High School where she participated as a short distance runner winning numerous awards. Ethel later moved to South Haven, Michigan where she met and married Edward Swans and moved to Lansing, Michigan.
Ethel was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, aunt, grandmother and friend. Ethel was known for her kindness and for her love of cooking CHICKEN and GIZZARDS!! Ethel was also known for going out in the community feeding the homeless.
Ethel was preceded in death by: her parents, Martin Jones, Sr., and Vernel Jones; one sister Robbie Lee Harris; and six brothers, Martin Jones, Jr., James, Clarence, Eddie, McArthur and David Jones.
Ethel went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2015. She leaves to cherish her loving memory: seven sons, Anthony (Jessica), Albert, Willie (Starr), Ryan, Tyrone, Michael and Christopher; one daughter, Barbara Ann; grandchildren, Dayton, Miracle, Destiny, Coressa, Willie Jr., and Jerimiah; great granddaughter Alaya; brothers, Bobbie Lee Harris of Pullman, Michigan, Gary (Christine) Jones of Covert, Michigan, Terry Jones of Grand Rapids, Michigan, Louis Jones of Lansing, Michigan, Thelma Jones of Mississippi, Bertha Jones and Ernestine (Willie) Hayes of Covert, Michigan; and special niece Patricia (Trish) Jones; and a host of other relatives and friends.
There will be visitation held on Friday, December 4, 2015 from 3:00pm to 6:00pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St, Lansing, MI 48933. Family hour on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 10:30am held at Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2410 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Lansing, MI 48910. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 5, 2015, 11:00am Solid Rock Baptist Church, 2410 S. Pennsylvania Avenue, Lansing, MI 48910 .
