Essie Davis Jr., was called home to be with the Lord, on Saturday, April 24, 2021. Essie was born to the late parents; Essie Sr. and Ovetta Davis, on November 1, 1940. He was born in Autaugaville, Alabama and moved to Lansing in 1964. He was employed by Motor Wheel Corporation until 1982.

Essie was a faithful member of the Bethlehem Temple Church. He had a powerful voice which he used to praise and worship God. Essie sang with the Gospelites for years, and served as president of the group.

Essie leaves to cherish his memories: a loving wife, Gerlin; three children, Burnadette (Frank) Holmes of Montgomery, Alabama, Mirenda (David) Brown, Tyrone Davis of Lansing; seven grandchildren, great grandchildren, great great grandchildren; four sisters, Costella, Annie, Jean, Lucy; two brothers, Pastor Robert Davis and Julius; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Arrangements are as follows; however, funeral services will be for immediate family only due to COVID-19 restrictions.
