Emma Lilly Keys was born to her proud parents, John and Annie Wright, in Shaw, Mississippi on February 9, 1920. Emma accepted Christ at an early age. She was a kind, caring, and loving person. She was a faithful servant to the Lord. Emma enjoyed fishing with her sister and working in her garden. Emma and her family moved to Lansing, Michigan in the 1970s, where she joined Mt. Olive Baptist Church. In 1986, she transitioned to Mercy Seat Baptist Church. Emma became a member of Lansing Church of God in Christ in 1999, under the leadership of Bishop Samuel Duncan, Jr. Emma Keys was the matriarch of the family. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and friend. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Terry Lee Keys; daughter, Idell Green; step-daughter, Minnie Verne Miller; parents; sisters, Rosie Lee Johnson, LueBirta Watson, Liz Wright, and Patience Wright; brothers, Jimmie Nelson, Eddie Wright, and John Wright, Jr. Emma went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on March 27, 2012. Emma leaves to celebrate her life and cherish her memory: her son, Abraham Jackson, Jr. (LaDora) of Callao, Virginia; daughters, Rosa Mae Jackson (Tommie), Dorothy Jean Wilson, Willie Mae Adams-Shanklin (Roger), and Mildred Deloris Keys, all of Lansing; step-daughter, Brenda Whitehead of Lansing; 19 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren, and 32 great-great- grandchildren; special cousin, Willa Kennedy; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. We were blessed to have had Emma in our lives. She was loved by many and will be deeply missed by everyone.
