Emma Garza was born on January 6, 1947 to Bentura Garcia and Elida Barrera in Alice, Texas. She was one of 11 children. Emma was preceded in death by: her husband of 47 years, Albino Garza. Emma lived a full and loving life, centered on family. She was the proud mother of five children,: predeceased by son, Jesse Romero; survived by children, Rosalinda (Richard) Hernandez, Julia Garza, Maryann (Joseph) Kilgallon, Elisa (Daniel) Briones, who filled her days with meaning and joy.

Over the years, her family blossomed to include 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren, each of whom she cherished. After retiring from Michigan State University, Emma embraced her retirement wholeheartedly, spending her days surrounded by the family she adored. Her legacy is one of devotion, connection, and a life well-loved.

Emma’s life was a dance to the music attitude. Whether driving, cooking in her kitchen, or even tidying the house, she kept the music playing and let her spirit move. Dancing was her way of embracing each moment, and her love for life’s rhythm echoed through everything she did. Emma leaves behind not only a devoted family, but the joyful memories of a life always accompanied by music.

Emma also found great joy in working in her yard, where she lovingly cared for her flowers year after year. She took pride in watching them bloom each season. Whether planting, watering, or simply admiring the blossoms. Emma found peace and happiness among her flowers. Her garden reflected the same warmth, care, and love that she shared so freely with her family and everyone around her.
