Sister Emma Louise Flanagan was born October 10, 1927 in Everettville, West Virginia to the late Louis and Charlotte Streeter. She grew up with two brothers, Edward and Louis Streeter Jr.
She was a graduate of Buffalo High School in West Virginia. Upon graduation and while attending a school of culinary education, she met and married the late Marcelious McMillian. To this marriage, she was rewarded with four beautiful children: daughter, Marsha Woolard of Lansing, Michigan and three sons Stanley, Clifford, and Joseph McMillian, all of Lansing, MI.
After the death of her husband, she relocated to Lansing, Michigan, where she joined Michigan State University's Culinary Services, which is where she retired from in later years.
She met and married Arcelious Flanagan and to this marriage, they were blessed with Dorothy Reynolds of Arizona, Robert and Marcelious "Molly" of California, and Michael of Lansing, Michigan.
After the death of their daughter Molly, they welcomed into their home and raised Dawn Todd, Wendy Duke Littlejohn, and Angela Pruitt all of Lansing, and Jeffrey Pruitt of Arizona.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Charlotte and Louis Streeter Sr.; stepmother, Rosie Streeter; sons, Stanley McMillan, Clifford McMillian and Joseph McMillian; and her husband, Rev. Arcelious Flanagan.

Through her missionary work as First Lady of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, she was the head of the Youth Department, Youth Bible Study, and Vacation Bible School. She had her own Missionary Society that led her to visit the sick; caring for them, cooking for them, and providing transportation to those in need. The joy of her life was doing for others.
