Eldon
Watson
October 7, 1931 – July 24, 2021
Eldon Watson was born October 7, 1931 to Elijah and Annie C. Watson in Chesterfield. SC, and was one of ten children. He was a Man of God, filled with a zest for life, love for his family, infinite faith, loyalty, devotion, and wisdom.
He was role model and mentor for young men, a champion for education and hard work. He graduated from Chesterfield High School, and was the last surviving member of his graduating class. He served in the Army and was an esteemed member of the sharp shooting brigade.
After leaving the Army, he moved to Lansing, MI, where he continued his education at Lansing Community College, earning an Associate's Degree. He worked for General Motors for 50 years as a skilled trades Journeyman Tool and Die Machinist.
He was a past member of Lansing COGIC under Bishop Coles, Rose of Sharon Church of God in Christ under Elder Green, and New Jerusalem Church under Pastors Dr. Charles and Fran Bicy, where he and his family attended for over thirty years. While at New Jerusalem Church, he served as a member of the Deacon's Board, Pastor's Aide, YPWW Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Superintendent, and was a member of the Men's Choir.
Deacon Watson and his family rejoined Lansing COGIC in 2019 and was a faithful member serving on the Deacons Board, and volunteering his time with the Foodbank Ministry.
He lived for his family and enjoyed spending time with them traveling, going out to eat, and watching and attending sporting events. He looked forward to cheering on The University of Michigan Wolverines wherever they hit the field or court.
His greatest love was undoubtedly the love he had for his Grandchildren: Justice and Jaylen.
Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Annie C. Watson; siblings, Lulla Mae Watson, Sallie Berry Malloy, Donald Watson, Ellis Watson, and Irene Watson; daughter, Pearl Maria Watson; and wife of 52 years, Mary Watson.
He is survived by his children, Dr. Eleanor Annette Watson, Arleen Tracy Watson, Eldon M. Watson all of Lansing; Mary B. Watson (Lateef), Granddaughter Justice D. Tramble, and Grandson Jaylen M. Tramble, of Canton, MI; siblings, Mary Rose Bittle of Chesterfield, SC; Orgire McCoy (Haywood), and James W. Watson of Charlotte, NC; and Elinda Ash of Lansing, MI; God-Children, Darleana Ash and Danielle Deitterick, Kye Lockhart, Justin and Joy Bicy; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters and brothers in law, church family members and friends.
