Edith Marqurie (Breedlove) Benthin was born on August 4, 1933 at the Harlem Hospital in New York. She was the daughter of James and Elizabeth Breedlove. Edith enjoyed reading, traveling, and working with children. This last love lead her to become a foster grandparent at Fairview School. She also enjoyed sharing secrets with her daughter-in-law, Teresa. Edith took special joy in discussing the fun she had at her surprise 80th birthday party. She kept saying it was the first birthday party she ever had. Edith also loved her dogs Suzy and Dusty. One of Ediths proudest moments was accepting the scholarship offer she earned as an employee of Midas Muffler in Chicago. With this she was able to support her sons college education. Our beloved Edith passed away November 9, 2013. Edith is survived by: her son, Randy and wife, Teresa; three grandchildren, Peter, Teresa and Matthew; five great grandchildren Trelynn, Arianna, Trey, Terrence and Acasha. She is also survived by her step-mother, Mamie Breedlove and brothers, Winford Breedlove, James (Jaffa) Breedlove and his wife, Lisa and their children, Tiffany, Tonia, James, John, Lauren and Jalisa. Memorial services for Ms. Benthin will be held Wednesday, November 13, 6pm, at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI.
