Edgar Lee Collins, affectionately known as 'Eddie' was born on Saturday October 11, 1952 in Little Rock, Arkansas. He was the first child born to Hazel and Edgar Earl Collins.

Hazel and the children relocated to Lansing in 1962 where he attended historic Sexton High School. He volunteered to serve his country at the age of 17, joining the Marines in 1972. After a tour of duty that took him from Guam to California, Edgar settled in Los Angeles before moving back to Lansing where the seeds of entrepreneurship were planted when he purchased a business, Soul On A Roll, a BBQ restaurant. In 1979, a malfunctioning city bus was running late, leaving Carolyn Clark sitting in the rain alone in downtown Lansing. Due to that fateful breakdown, Edgar met Carolyn after class and the two sweethearts were married in 1980. While still maintaining a full time job as an inventory manager at the Lansing Board of Water and Light, Edgar started the store Aquarium Management with his wife in 1982. The store eventually became Hollywood Video, a VHS rental store that was a neighborhood staple through the early 1990s'.

Edgar enjoyed gardening, studying scripture, cooking a variety of foods, learning about computers and technology and staying youthful by keeping up with current music and events. He retired in 2010 and he and Carolyn purchased their dream home on Hanover Drive in Lansing where he enjoyed his retirement spoiling his grandchildren, building an elaborate garden and spending time with the love of his life, his wife Carolyn.

Edgar was proceeded in death by: his mother, Hazel; father, Edgar; sister, Jeanie; and his grandson, Alexander Croston.

Edgar is survived by: his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Collins; his children, Antonio, Lynnette, Michael, Starsha and Brandon; and several grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
