Eddies Gentry, Jr. was born in Antoine, Arkansas on January 24, 1947 to Eddies, Sr. and Gracie Gentry. Eddies graduated from Okolona High School in 1964. Shortly after graduation, he relocated to Lansing, Michigan and began his 36 year employment with General Motors. Eddies became a member of the Church of Christ at an early age. He went on to become a minister for the Church of Christ and was a faithful member until he became ill. He loved outdoor life, particularly hunting and fishing. He also had a passion for chess. Eddies was preceded in his home-going by: his son, Kester Gentry; parents, Eddies, Sr. and Gracie Gentry; mother-in-law, Aleane Watts; and two brothers-in-law. Eddies was called home Sunday, October 20, 2013. Eddie leaves to cherish his memory: his wife, Dorothy, which he united in marriage in 2001 in Genesee County; two daughters, Shellie (Alfredo) Roach of Gland Blanc, Michigan, Enola Gayla Gentry of Lansing; three sons, Floyd Pouncil, III and Ron (Sylvia) Pouncil, both of Flint, Michigan, and Keith (Lori) Gentry of Eaton Rapids, Michigan; 12 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; six sisters, Maretta Collier, Mary (Leotis) Snowden, and Marcella Johnson, all of Arkansas, and Annette Gentry, Maelene Gentry, and Gloria (Troy) Avanzato, all of Lansing; three brothers, Curtis Gentry, Nathan (Michelle) Gentry, both of Lansing, Harold (Sharee) Gentry of Arkansas; two sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; three aunts; one uncle; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends; and a special nephew, Eddie Lee Gentry, Deadeye of Arkansas. Funeral services for Mr. Gentry will be held Friday, October 25, 2013, 12pm, at Holmes Road Church of Christ, 321 E Holmes Rd, Lansing, MI 48910. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service.
