Earnest Eugene Riggins was born on February 9, 1951 to Emma Jane Williams and Earnest Riggins, Sr. in Hollandale, Mississippi. Earnest grew up in Vicksburg, Mississippi. Earnest loved his life in the south but eventually made his way north to Chicago, Illinois and later, to his final home in Lansing, Michigan. He returned home to Mississippi as often as he could. Earnest enjoyed studying the Bible, working on cars, and spending time with his family. He was an avid chess player and he liked to keep physically fit. He will be remembered for taking the time to help out his family and friends in any way he could. He loved to share the gospel, and rarely neglected the opportunity to witness for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, wherever he went. He believed that at death, the physical body returns to dust, and the soul of the believer is welcomed into heaven. Earnest Eugene peacefully departed from this life, to return to his Creator on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at the age of 61. He leaves to cherish his memory: his son, Andre Amos and family, of Lansing; daughter, Faith Walker and family; brother, Moses Williams of Chicago; two sisters, Beverly Ann and Brenda Ann Williams, both of Chicago; two aunts, Levella LV Caston and family and Virgie McGowan and family, both of Lansing; grandmother, Willie B. Hill of Vicksburg, Mississippi; 10 sisters, two brothers, six aunts, and an uncle, all in Mississippi; cousin, Larry Caston of Lansing, who always held a special place in his heart; and many other nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends, along with 5 grandchildren, who all hold him close. Memorial Service: Saturday, January 19, 4 pm at the Riley Funeral Home.
