Age 85, was born to George and Lexcie Jones in West Point, MS on September 3, 1927 and died peacefully on Saturday, December 15, 2012, with her family at her bedside. She joined Friendship Baptist Church, under the late Rev. E. Gladstone Scott, and became a member of the Usher Board in 1955. She was employed by J. W. Knapps for several years before becoming a dental assistant for Dr. Clinton Canady, for over 20 years. After retiring, she became a foster grandparent at the School for the Blind and Boys and Girls Club. She was a member of the first Debutante Cotillion, Les Meres of Lansing in 1965. Earline was preceded in death by: her parents; brother, George Jones, Jr.; daughter, Betty Marie Swanson; and ex-husband, Cleveland Brown, Jr. Survivors include: 3 daughters, Lexcie (Charles) Blockett, Angelene Hill, and Doris Taylor; 4 granddaughters, Tina Lorell Moore, Michelle (Wayne)Porter, Evangelist Doris-DD (Steve) Harris, all of Lansing, and Fatima (Virgil) McDaniels of Columbus, OH; 3 grandsons, Kevin Swanson of Los Angeles, CA, Anthony Swanson of Lansing, and Mark (Genet) Swanson of Alexandria, VA; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; aunt, Kattie Mae Gibbs of Lansing; and many other close relatives and friends. Friends may visit Mrs. Brown Friday, December 21, 11am - 4pm at the Riley Funeral Home, with the family receiving friends from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at Friendship Baptist Church, 2912 Pleasant Grove Rd. A family burial will be held Saturday, December 22, 11:00 am at Chapel Hill Memorial Mausoleum.
