Don Edwin Coleman , Ph.D., died January 30, 2017.  He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers and 3 sisters.  In addition to his well-documented athletic prowess, his academic and professional accomplishments, his tireless community service and a myriad of accolades, Don led a full personal and social life. He was a proud lifetime member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.; serving as a founder and president of the Kappa Delta Lambda Alumnae Chapter, as well as president of 2 other chapters.  Don also enjoyed dancing, parlor games, reading, politics, all manner of athletic events (especially M.S.U. Spartan ones) and frequently traveled/cruised to destinations around the world. However, Don's greatest joy was his family.  He leaves to cherish his memory, the love of his life and wife for over 60 years, Geraldine "Geri" and their devoted daughter, Stephanie "Cookie"; sister-in-law, Rosalee (Jerry, Sr.)Minor; a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, great-great nieces, nephews, as well as numerous friends and fans. In keeping with Don's wishes, his remains have been cremated and there will be no funeral service. A private memorial for family and friends will be held in May.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michigan State University Athletic Department or the Building Child and Family Initiatives (BCFI), P.O. Box 4304, East Lansing, MI 48823.
