Delores
Ross
June 5, 1939 – March 19, 2022
Delores Ross was born in Birmingham, AL to Willie Chappell and Annie May Russell on June 5, 1939.
In 1955 she moved to Lansing, MI. She graduated from Lansing – Eastern High School and soon obtained employment with Michigan State University where she was a cook. In the mid-1980s she began employment at the Oldsmobile Plant in Lansing and retired in the late 1990s.
Delores accepted the Lord as her personal savior at an early age; she was a long-time member of Trinity A.M. E. Church of Lansing, Michigan. She married Edward "Ed" Earl Ross on June 5, 1980. This union produced one child, Ahmad, and three grandchildren; all were the love of her life.
Delores was unfailingly generous to family and friends with both her time and resources. She delighted in entertaining her family for holidays and was especially known for her pies and cakes. She was also an independent, feisty, and outspoken woman who could be gentle and kind.
Delores was preceded in death by her parents and her dear husband, Edward, and siblings: Lillian Gordon, Barbara McQueen, Patsy McQueen, and her brother Mark Austin. She leaves to cherish her memory: a son, Ahmad Ross; three grandchildren, Aaron, Andrew, and Ahmina Ross; her brother Michael Chappell; and her sisters Connie, Kathy, and Vanassa Nixon, Vicki Quinney, and Lisa Hammond. She shall also be fondly remembered by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
