Obituary

Visitation: 4/26 from 12-6pm at Riley Funeral Home Funeral: 4/27 at 1pm at Tabernacle of David, 2645 W Holmes Rd, Lansing Debra S. Simon-Flagg was born June 14, 1951 in Lansing, MI, to Malvin V. and Alphia (Hicks) Simon. She accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Debra enjoyed participating in many youth activities and programs. Her ongoing love for God, eventually led her to join The Tabernacle of David under the leadership of Pastor Larry Trice, Jr. She attended the Lansing School District graduating from J. W. Sexton High Class of 1969. After graduation Debra was employed with the State of Michigan and served in varies departments, but retired from the Department of Nature Resources after many years of service. Debra was a dedicated and loving wife to her husband for many years, upon his illness she became a loyal and devoted care provider. She cherished being a Mother and Sister, Debra was fun-loving, outgoing and she cherished good times with her family and friends. Mrs. Flagg was preceded in death by her husband Richard Flagg, Sr., and her parents. She leaves to cherish her precious memory; Loving daughter Denise D. Simon; 2 brothers Sam V. and Malvin V. Simon; aunt, Roberta Hicks-Lemon; uncle Jonas (Barbara) Hicks all of Lansing; step-daughters Marva Britton; Darya Moore and Karen Flagg-Brown; step-sons, Richard Jr., Richard G., and Kevin Glascoe all of Lansing. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; which includes beloved nephew Darnell Jones of New York. Special thanks to devoted friends Raheema Kathy Muhammad and Paula Hubbert.
