Obituary

Deanon "Dee/Denon" Allen Hayes , son of Verdell and Curtis Hayes, Sr. was born on November 21, 1962 in Lansing, Michigan.

Dee graduated from Sexton High School in 1980.  Shortly after graduation, he enlisted in the US Army Reserves.  After 27 years of employment with the State of Michigan Department of Treasury, he retired in 2017.   Deanon's colleagues will fondly remember his mystical and infectious laugh forever.  He served on the Employee Appreciation Committee (for Treasury).  Also, he was a true fan of MSU and Oakland University, where his son, Jalen played college basketball.

As a member of the Lansing Church of God in Christ, Deanon rededicated his life to Christ.  He faithfully and passionately served on the Usher Board within the Helps' Ministry.

Deanon made his transition after an extensive illness on Thursday, September 12, 2019.

Deanon was preceded in death by: his parents, Verdell and Curtis Hayes, Sr.

Deanon leaves to cherish his memory: his devoted wife, Mrs. Myra Stallworth Hayes; sons, Denon, Jr. (Stacy), Lamar, Devon, Jalen and Jawan Hayes of Lansing; one  daughter, Shalaya (Matt) Abbey of Lansing; eleven grandchildren; three brothers, Anthony Boston of New York, Billy Williams, and Curtis (Phyllis) Hayes of Lansing; two sisters, Sandra Hicks of Lansing, and Maxine Jackson of South Carolina; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends.
