David Earl
Leek
November 3, 1938 – July 3, 2017
LIVE
David Earl Leek was born November 3, 1938 in Lansing, MI, to Earnest and Hildred Leek. Born and raised in Bethlehem Temple Church, he was baptized and filled with the Holy Ghost at 11 years of age. Ever faithful, David worked diligently beside his mother to support her work in the ministry. As a young man outside of church, he loved fishing with his dad, enjoying his brothers' and sisters' company and racing cars. His love of driving translated into 22 faithful years of service with Capital Area Transportation Authority, where he retired in 2000.
LOVE
David was a pure family man - a devoted husband and father of 9 children, all who knew David, could attest to how loving and caring he naturally was. Daddy's love for his family was parallel only by his love to Christ, as he was one of the founding members of Bethlehem Temple Church. Daddy's love of family was also illustrated in even the small things, like at family gatherings, he was the breakfast chef. He would ask each person what they want for breakfast and would prepare it per request. Now, THAT is love….
LAUGH
The Original King of Christian Comedy, there was never a dull moment when you were around David, whether you were at church, work or anywhere in between. Without a doubt, David had an INFECTIOUS aura about him when it came to seeing the lighter side of life. You knew it was him during testimony service when he would remind our long winded saints, "Remember your brothers and sisters now…" AND you knew you'd get to your dinner plate faster, counting on him- as he was the ONLY Elder with a one word table blessing….. "Grace."
David was preceded in death by his mother, Hildred; father, Earnest; and late wife, Barbara; brothers, Jim and Denis; and sister, Helen. He leaves to cherish his legacy of love: a very loving and dedicated wife of 31 years, Pamela M. Leek; children, David R Leek, Lori Leek, Kevin Leek (Linda), Dwayne Leek, Wanda Leek, Yemora Williams, Matthew Williams, Nichole Leek and Sarah Waston (Christopher); 19 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; five surviving siblings, Katherine Benson, Charlie Leek, Norma Williams, Joyce Lawrence and Carolyn Leek; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and best friends.
