David Albert Cripe, age 71, died Sunday, September 5, 2021, in Lansing, Michigan.

David was born on September 8, 1949, in Lansing, Michigan, to parents Albert and Betty Cripe. He graduated from Everett High School in 1967.

A lifelong Lansing resident, Dave loved and owned vintage cars, enjoyed singing the oldies with various local bands, and had a passion for collecting antiques and unique items. In 1974, together with his dad, Al, they started Betty's Buttons and T-Shirts, named after Dave's mom, Betty. They offered screen printing, buttons and other promotional items and served the community for 35 years. They also attended several yearly swap meets and car shows, selling car-related t-shirts, buttons and fun license plates all throughout the Midwest.

He was a member for many decades of the Capital City Corvette Club and very much enjoyed attending their meetings and events over the years, and made many longtime friends in that group.

On November 3, 1984, David married Patricia Aten, and they were married for 33 years until her death in 2018.

David is survived by: his son, David, and his wife, Crystal, and their children, Katie and Lily of North Carolina; and his daughter, Kimberly, and her children, Tyrelle, Tae'Von, and Kaelyn Love of Lansing; his sisters, Jill Hendrickson of Colorado Springs, CO, and Debbie Weidner of Cleveland, OH; nieces, Jamie Godwin and Kasie Weidner; nephews, Kerry McCabe and Brady Weidner; and special friends who helped take care of Dave toward the end, Tammy Spinrad and Brian Rowley; as well as several cousins, great nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by: his parents, Al (2005) and Betty (1990), and wife, Patty (2018).

Services are scheduled on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at 5:00pm at Riley Funeral Home in Lansing, MI. All are welcome to attend and share memories of Dave's life.
