David Thomas Cairns was born May 19, 1961, passed away January 20, 2014 at Sparrow Hospital. He is survived by his wife Barbara (Mikowski) Cairns; daughter Elizabeth; sons Jared and Sam; brothers James, Robert, Peter, Thomas and Andrew; sister Barbara and parents Alvera and Glenn Cairns. He was a 1978 graduate of Okemos High School. David served in the U.S Marine Corps from 1979-1985. He enjoyed auto body management, and was a fan of Nascar. He will be sadly missed. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 27, 2014 at 10:30 am at Church of the Resurrection, 1531 East Michigan Avenue, Lansing, MI 48912, with Fr. Steven Mattson officiating. Burial with full military honors will take place at Ft. Custer National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday January 26, 2014, from 2-4 and 6-8pm with a rosary at 7 pm. Funeral contributions to the family would be greatly appreciated to help defray funeral costs.
