Obituary

Daniel "Dan" Fields, Jr. was born April 2, 1939, to the union of Rev. Daniels Fields, Sr. and Hattie Mae (Lively) Fields.  He married Donna Jean (Phifer) Fields on March 2, 2003.  Dan proudly served in the United State Army.  He was a loyal General Motors employee for over 31 years.

At an early age, Dan received Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior.  He was a member of Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church for over 30 years.  Deacon Fields had structured the Church's first computer lab.  He served in several capacities including Deacon, Chairman of the Trustees, greeter, pulpit committee members, transportation ministry, prayer and outreach ministry and choir member.  He was loved and cherished by all.
He was kind, quiet and gentle soul who kept the peace and helped whenever or wherever he could.  He loved to read his bible, he had read it sixty-four times.  He loved to travel and work on computers.  He was well known for driving across the country.
Dan passed away on April 16, 2016.  He was preceded in death by: his parents, Rev. Daniel, Sr. and Hattie Mae; siblings, Queen Esther, Roosevelt and Clara.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his beloved wife, Donna; son, Larry; daughter, Lisa; stepson, Calvin (Sarah); stepdaughters, Robbin (Jerome) and Nikia; and granddaughters Déjà and D'nai; siblings, Harrison (Lorraine), Lou Bertha (Paul), Dorothy, Mildred, Margaret (Kenneth), Odessa (Valanders), Samuels (Gladys), Petry (James) and Bradley (Rachel); and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Daniel Fields, Jr. will lie in repose Wednesday, April 20th, 3-6pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph St., Lansing, MI.  Funeral service will be held Thursday, April 21st, 11am at Pilgrim Rest Baptist Church, 5200 Pleasant Grove Rd, Lansing, MI .  Family will receive friends thirty minutes prior to the funeral.  Memories and condolences may be shared at www.rileyfuneralhome.com .
