Obituary

Dalia Caranique Carpenter passed away December 5, 2013. She was born July 11, 1996 in Lansing, MI, daughter of Trina Carpenter Couthen and Henry Charles Talton, Jr. of West Monroe, Louisiana. She was dedicated in the life of the Lord at the age of two years old. Dalia was a senior at Lansing Everett High School. She was a beautiful, fun-loving, high-spirited and caring young lady. She was involved in swimming all three years at Gardner Junior High School. Dalia also played volleyball in her junior and senior years plus track in her senior year. She obtained numerous sports awards including a CAAC All Conference Volleyball Award in November 2013. Dalia received athletic/academic scholarships from Lansing Community College and Eastern Michigan University. Dalia was also a HOPE SCHOLAR maintaining a 3.5 GPA. Remaining to cherish her memory are her mother, Trina Carpenter Couthen and step-father, Steven Couthen; brother Steven Couthen, Jr. and sister, Khatrina Couthen; step-brothers, Xavier Couthen, Steven Little, Raheem Mushatt; step-sister, Atonett Doneisha Couthen; grandparents, James (Beverly) Carpenter of Jackson, MI, Marva (Adolph) Yarrell, Arthur (Lillian) Couthen of Lansing, MI, and Henry (Caroline) Talton, Sr. of Sterlington, Louisiana; special aunties, Cynthia (DeShon) Owens of Las Vegas, NV and Cortoria Horne of Chicago, IL and a plethora of uncles , aunts, cousins, relatives and friends unable to be mentioned, but you know you are loved. Friends may visit Ms. Carpenter Thursday, December 12, 2013, 3-6pm at Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI, 48933. Funeral services for Ms. Carpenter will be held Friday, December 13, 2013, 12pm, at Trinity AME Church, 3500 W. Holmes Rd, Lansing, MI 48911.
