Obituary

Curley Lee Harris was born in Lansing, Michigan on July 29,1953 to Annie Mae Jones and Curley Darnell Lane. He graduated from J.W. Sexton High School. Curley was a member of the Mt. Zion Male Choir for over ten years. He was employed with The Marker Board Company, until his untimely death. Curley was known for his effortless, charming smile and his distinguished dressing. People often would watch for Curley to come to church, just to see what he was wearing. He was an avid Michigan State University fan who would often take his dad to the home games. Curley and his sister, Beverly Harris, along with the help of Brenda Jury, diligently shared the responsibility of taking care of their father, Curley, Sr. Curley was preceded in death by: his mother, Annie Mae Jones McSpadden; brother, Robert Bobbie Allan Lane, Sr.; maternal grandparents, Robert Lee and Josephine Bessie Harris; and paternal grandmother, Dedlarer Lane. Curley passed away on December 5, 2011. He leaves behind to always and forever cherish his loving memory: father, Curley Lane, Sr.; five children, Brian Holmes and Clayton Holmes, both of Detroit, Michigan, Kyle Slucter of Columbus, Georgia, Dayna McSpadden of Battle Creek, Michigan, and JaMontay Jury of Lansing; three grandchildren; two sisters, Beverly Baba Harris and Marina Tina Harris, both of Lansing; two step-sisters, LaTanya Lee of Inkster, Michigan and Lisa Thomas-Collins of Lansing; special friend of 30 years, Brenda Juryl; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives.
