Age 83, Coressa was born December 15, 1929 in Arkadelphia, Arkansas to Johnnie and Sallie Mitchell, the fourth of six daughters. Our beloved went to meet her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on February 15, 2013. She retired from Michigan State University, Mayo Hall, with over twenty-five years of service. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Clifford Summerville; sons, Joseph and Raymond Summerville; grandsons, Aaron D. Dungey and James Lauderdale III; sisters, Bertha Cummings and Lizzie Hudson; and parents, Johnnie and Sallie Mitchell. Survivors include: daughters, Evelyn S. Dungey, Lois J. Summerville, Rose M. Oliver, and Jacquelyn Summerville, all of Lansing, and Brenda J. Johnson of Detroit, MI; son, Michael Martin Sr.; grandchildren, William Maurice Summerville, Larry J. (Kimberly) Johnson, Starr T. Summerville, Jamone Newell, Crystal (Joe, Sr.) Stephens, Robert Wray, Adam M. S. Dungey, Samonza Kimble, Joy Goree, Michael Martin, Jr., Jamel Summerville, Christopher Martin, and Joseph Oliver Jr.; sisters, Naomi Buckley of Lansing, Freddie M. Buford of Arkansas, and Norma Jean Stafford of Texas; sisters-in-law, Bessie (Joe) Swanson and Iona Summerville; and brother"in-law, Jim Summerville; and other relatives and friends. Friends may visit Mrs. Summerville Wednesday, February 20, 12 " 9 pm, at the Riley Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 21, 1 pm, at First Christian Church, 1001 Chester St., Lansing. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the funeral.
