Mrs. Stokes, age 86, was born May 29, 1927 in Turrell, Arkansas to Ed and Lucy Risper. Mrs. Stokes had been a faithful member of Union Missionary Baptist Church since 1951. She was preceded in death by: her husband, John E. Stokes; her parents; and 4 brothers and 2 sisters. She leaves to cherish her memory: 3 daughters, Rev. Lurecie Stokes, Dr. Ruby (Henry) Wilkerson, and Johnetter Stokes; 2 sons, Col. James (Wanda) Stokes, and D. Leon (Yvette) Stokes; 4 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; a sister; 3 godchildren and a host of nieces, nephews and friends. Mrs. Stokes will lie in repose Sunday, September 22, 3 " 7 pm at the Riley Funeral Home, 426 W. St. Joseph Street, Lansing, MI 48933. The funeral services will be held Monday, September 23, 11:00 am at Union Missionary Baptist Church, 500 S.
